My Lord,

2516. With reference to the telegraphic correspondence noted in the margin, I have the honour to transmit a copy of the letter in which Mr. H. N. Mody asked that permission might be obtained for his presentation to the Colony of a Statue of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales together with a plan shewing the position which the Statue will occupy. The land on which it will stand belongs to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, the Directors of which have kindly granted permission to make use of the site for the purpose.

2. In accordance with the suggestion which His Majesty the King has been pleased to make Mr. Mody will now place the order for the Statue in the hands of Mr. George F. Wade.
